Overview
The Egypt national ID card (بطاقة الرقم القومي) is the main identity document for citizens at home. It is often needed to open accounts, sign contracts, vote, or renew other documents. We prepare the application, book the appointment, and follow the card until it is ready.
How it works in Egypt
These points come from the Khadamat Misr first-issuance page and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular FAQ:
- For a first national ID card, Khadamat Misr asks students for a birth certificate stamped by their school, and a guarantor who is a relative up to the third degree.
- The card affects your passport. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says a valid national ID card gets you a passport for the full 7 years. With an expired card, the passport is issued for 3 years only.
- If that 3-year passport is later renewed without a national ID, it is issued for one year only, until the ID is issued.
- Applicants aged 15 or over must show the national ID card to replace a lost or damaged passport.
Rules and fees change, so we check the official source again before your application goes in.
Before you apply
- Plan for an in-person step. Most authorities take fingerprints, a photo, or a signature themselves.
- Check your names. The spelling should match your passport, birth record, and any naturalisation certificate.
- Have your citizenship evidence ready. New citizens may need the certificate or registration record before the card can be issued.
Why applications get delayed
- Names or dates that differ between documents
- A birth or citizenship record that is not yet in the civil registry
- Missing proof of a name change or marriage
- Photos that do not meet the authority's rules
- Fees paid to the wrong account or for the wrong year
We check each of these before the application goes in.

Fees
Price on request
You receive a quote before any filing starts. It separates the CitizenX fee from government charges, translations, and courier costs. Those extras are added only when they apply, and only after you approve them.
Government fees change, so we confirm them with the issuing authority for your case before you sign.
Government and third-party charges are confirmed in the quote when they apply.
Questions
Usually yes, because the authority takes biometrics itself. We tell you before anything is filed if a visit is needed.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a valid ID card means a full 7-year passport. With an expired card, the passport is cut to 3 years.
From the official sources linked on this page. We check them again before filing because rules and fees change.
You approve the quote before we file. Government fees, translations, and courier charges are listed on their own when they apply.
