Driver License in Grenada

A Grenada driver's licence lets you drive legally once you live there or hold its citizenship. Depending on your situation, you may get a new licence, exchange a foreign one, or use a temporary permit while you settle in.

How it works in Grenada

These points come from the Royal Grenada Police Force Traffic Department page and Grenada's Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 2015:

• The Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force issues temporary driving licences.
• Driving examinations are held at the Licensing and Inspection Center on Dusty Highway, Grand Anse.
• Driver's licences are processed and issued by the Licensing Department at the Financial Complex on the Carenage, St George's.
• A valid licence from an OECS member state counts as a Grenada licence while it remains valid. A CARICOM licence with at least six months' validity on entry covers the next six months.

Before you apply

• Check your current licence. Whether it can be exchanged depends on the country that issued it and whether it is still valid.
• Plan for an in-person step. Most authorities take a photo, signature, or eye test at the counter.
• Prepare translations. Licences in another language often need a certified translation.
