Overview

This service covers adding a parent to a São Tomé and Príncipe citizenship. We work out which route and forms apply, prepare the papers with you, file them with the right office, and follow the request until the document is issued.

How it works in São Tomé and Príncipe

These points come from the DGRN civil registry page, the DGRN frequently asked questions:

  • A full narrative birth certificate costs 75 dobras (97.50 urgent), and a certificate for nationality purposes costs 300 dobras (390 urgent).
  • Nationality by origin needs the full birth record of the applicant and of the São Toméan parent, a signed declaration of wanting to be São Toméan, a request to the Minister of Justice, and a passport copy.

Rules and fees change, so we check the official source again before your application goes in.

Before you start

  • Match your names. The spelling should be the same on your passport, birth record, and any citizenship certificate.
  • Collect the originals. Most offices want originals or certified copies, and some want translations.
  • Plan for in-person steps. Some offices take photos, fingerprints, or signatures themselves.
  • Tell us the destination. If the document will be used abroad, it may also need an apostille.

Why requests get delayed

  • Names or dates that differ between documents
  • A birth, marriage, or citizenship record that is not yet in the register
  • Missing translations or certified copies
  • Fees paid to the wrong account
  • Photos that do not meet the office's rules

We check each of these before anything is filed.

Fees

Price on request

You receive a quote before any filing starts. It separates the CitizenX fee from government charges, translations, and courier costs. Those extras are added only when they apply, and only after you approve them.

Government fees change, so we confirm them with the issuing authority for your case before you sign.

Government and third-party charges are confirmed in the quote when they apply.

Questions

The DGRN publishes requirements for nationality by origin, naturalisation and marriage. We confirm which route fits a parent before filing.

From the official sources linked on this page. We check them again before filing because rules and fees change.

Not always. We tell you before anything is filed if a step must be done in person.

You approve the quote before we file. Government fees, translations, and courier charges are listed on their own when they apply.
