Passport Renewal in Türkiye

A Türkiye passport renewal is for someone who already holds that passport and needs a new one. An expired passport can usually still be renewed. If the passport was lost, stolen, or damaged, the request is a replacement, which often has its own steps.

How renewal works in Türkiye

These points come from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular portal:

• Abroad, ordinary passport applications are made at Turkish embassies and consulates through the konsolosluk.gov.tr system.
• For a new ordinary passport, including after a loss, you book an appointment and then apply in person.

Renewal or replacement?

• Renewal. Your passport is valid, about to expire, or expired, and you still have it.
• Replacement. The passport was lost, stolen, or damaged. Expect a police report or a sworn declaration, and sometimes a longer wait.
• Change of details. If your name or other details changed, the authority usually wants the supporting civil documents first.
