Article 19 allows the Government, on the proposal of the competent ministry, to admit a foreigner to Serbian citizenship whenever the person’s naturalization is deemed to be “of interest for the Republic of Serbia.” The same article lets the applicant’s spouse be naturalised on identical terms.

This is a stage where your application is submitted to the Authorities. There will be 3 stages of approval. At this stage, you might be asked to provide additional documents or information.
This is a stage where your application is approved and where you schedule your second visit to Belgrade, Serbia. If dependents are included in your application, they may be asked to come at this stage too. This is to be decided based on the case.
Upon your arrival, we will go with you to the MUP (Ministry of Internal Affairs), and to the municipality to register you in the birth register. After 5 to 7 days, you should receive your ID and passport. You are required to stay in the country until you receive your documents. If dependents are included, their application starts at this point. It will take 2-3 months for the approval of their citizenship, after which they are required to come to Serbia to apply for their ID and passport.
