Nauru
Overview
A Nauru passport renewal is for someone who already holds that passport and needs a new one. An expired passport can usually still be renewed. If the passport was lost, stolen, or damaged, the request is a replacement, which often has its own steps.
We check your file against the official requirements, prepare the forms and the photo, and follow the application through with the issuing authority or the consulate. If the authority wants you in person for biometrics or collection, we tell you before you book travel.
How renewal works in Nauru
These points come from the Passport Division of Nauru's Department of Justice and Border Control:
- Passports are issued by the Passport Division of the Department of Justice and Border Control under the Passports Act 2011, at the Government Buildings in Yaren.
- Naturalised citizens are eligible for a Nauru passport, as are citizens by birth or descent.
- Processing takes 48 hours, and emergency processing is available.
- Passports are valid for ten years. The Division recommends renewing at least six months before expiry.
- Photos must be two identical photos on a white background, 35 to 40 mm wide and 45 to 50 mm high.
- Postage of the passport by mail is offered for a fee. A lost or stolen passport must be reported to the police; abroad, also to the nearest Nauru diplomatic or consular office.
Requirements and fees change, so we check the official source again before your file goes in.
Renewal or replacement?
- Renewal. Your passport is valid, about to expire, or expired, and you still have it.
- Replacement. The passport was lost, stolen, or damaged. Expect a police report or a sworn declaration, and sometimes a longer wait.
- Change of details. If your name or other details changed, the authority usually wants the supporting civil documents first.
Why applications get delayed
- A photo that does not meet the size, background, or expression rules
- Missing or uncertified supporting documents
- Details that do not match across your passport, ID, and civil records
- Applying through the wrong office or mission for where you live
- A lost passport reported as renewed instead of replaced
We check each of these before the application goes in.

Fees
Price on request
You receive a quote before any filing starts. It separates the CitizenX fee from government charges, courier costs, and legalisation. Those extras are added only when they apply, and only after you approve them.
Government fees change, so we confirm them with the issuing authority or consulate for your case before you sign.
Government and third-party charges are confirmed in the quote when they apply.
Questions
Usually yes. An expired Nauru passport can normally be renewed. A lost, stolen, or damaged passport is handled as a replacement.
The Passport Division recommends renewing before expiry, at least six months ahead if you plan to travel.
From the official source linked on this page: the Passport Division of Nauru's Department of Justice and Border Control. We check it again before filing because requirements and fees change.
You approve the quote before we file. Government and courier charges are listed on their own when they apply.
