Yes. Cambodia expanded its citizenship revocation framework in 2025. As explained in Andersen’s review of the implementing rules, naturalized citizens can lose nationality for obtaining it through fraud or false information, treason, conduct undermining national sovereignty, and certain offenses involving the King, state security, or terrorism. Refusing a government order to leave foreign military or public service can also be grounds for revocation. These powers extend beyond irregularities in the original citizenship application.

Cambodia’s 2018 Nationality Law does not impose a numbered generational limit on citizenship acquired through a Cambodian parent. Children can qualify whether born in Cambodia or abroad, subject to the law’s parentage requirements. Citizenship can therefore continue through successive generations when each child has a qualifying citizen parent and the necessary family and citizenship records are established.

It can. Cambodia’s military-service law enacted in May 2026 requires male citizens aged 18 to 25 to complete 24 months of service, subject to exemptions. Official guidance expressly includes dual citizens living in Cambodia. Families should check how age, residence, and any exemption affect each applicant; an older investor’s position does not determine the future obligations of their children.
